Watch AAOI, The Trade Desk, SpaceX, and More

Applied Optoelectronics (AAOI) rose by around 12% in pre-market trading. The firm posted second-quarter results.

In Q2, AAOI posted non-GAAP EPS of $0.06 after revenue grew by 86.3% Y/Y to $191.9 million. It guided Q3 revenue of $255 million to $290 million, which is above consensus. The firm confirmed its product ramp and execution.

Advertising firm The Trade Desk (TTD) will open down by around 27% after falling 6.8% on Thursday. In addition to consistently high stock-based compensation, the weak growth scared its shareholders.

In Q2, TTD posted non-GAAP EPS of $0.34. Revenue rose by 3.0% Y/Y to $715.06 million. It is forecasting Q3 revenue of at least $650 million. Analysts expected over $800 million in revenue. The Trade Desk’s glorious growth during the pandemic is long over.

Short-sellers betting on TTD stock will make a profit today. The short interest is 17.24%.
The insider lockup in SpaceX (SPCX) opened 911.5 million shares for trading on Thursday. But SPCX stock gained 6.14% yesterday and will open up again today. Technical traders will look at the chart to assume that $110 is the floor on the stock.

Option activity included highly speculative, out-of-the-money call options. However, expect option volumes to rise for an exercise price between $105 and $120. Markets have confidence in CEO Elon Musk. As a result, SpaceX’s lofty valuation is not likely to shrink anytime soon.
