2017 Was Good for BlackBerry Inc., and 2018 Is Shaping Up to Be a Great Year Too

Few Canadian tech gems have performed better than BlackBerry Inc. (TSX:BB)(NYSE:BBRY) in 2017. Given the company’s return of approximately 80% over the past 12 months alone, momentum is certainly on the tech company’s side as the company enters what looks to be a very promising 2018 filled with continued innovation and earnings beats.

BlackBerry has begun to shift the conversation among investors in Canada and around the world that the company is truly on its way to becoming a world class leader in software services for emerging sectors of the technology industry such as autonomous vehicles. While many investors may still have a sour taste from investing in BlackBerry near its peak, the fact that the company has pivoted (in what appears to be a successful manner) toward becoming a pure-play software company has many betting on the future of BlackBerry and autonomous vehicle software in 2018 and beyond.

The valuations of nearly every technology company have grown to relatively high levels, and in that regard, BlackBerry can look like a steal to many investors betting on the long-term vision of the organization. Under the company’s new CEO John Chen, BlackBerry has performed incredibly well, stabilizing the business’ overall operations, and moving full speed into growth mode in an attempt to become a world-class player in a market which has yet to see its full potential as of yet.

Invest wisely, my friends.
